Improvements to Our Oldmixon Site

During the recent half-term break, a number of improvements were made across our Oldmixon site to enhance both the learning environment and outdoor spaces available to students.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a welcoming and engaging environment, several new facilities and improvements have been introduced. New picnic benches have been installed to provide additional outdoor seating, a basketball hoop has been added to encourage positive recreational activities, and a new outdoor whiteboard has been installed to support outdoor learning opportunities and provide greater flexibility for lessons and activities.

In addition, staff have carried out general tidying and landscaping work around the site, helping to improve the appearance of outdoor areas. Bins have also been relocated to more suitable locations to help keep the grounds tidy and accessible.

Alongside these enhancements, we have continued to review site safety arrangements. Following routine site reviews and discussions with the Local Authority and Health & Safety colleagues, anti-climb paint has been installed at a small number of identified access points to roofs and other elevated areas. This measure has been introduced to help reduce the risk of injury associated with climbing.

Anti-climb paint is a specialist non-drying coating designed to discourage climbing. Whilst it is not harmful, it can transfer easily onto clothing, footwear and skin if touched. Warning signs are displayed in all affected areas and students have been reminded not to touch or attempt to climb near treated surfaces.

These improvements form part of our ongoing work to ensure that Voyage Learning Campus provides a safe, welcoming and positive environment in which all students can learn, develop and thrive.

We would like to thank students, families and staff for their continued support in helping us look after and improve our school environment.
